And probably that hood costs as much as the lens ! (ok, maybe not that much but still a very rare find).

Would that lens 1:1,2 fit on a leica IIIf Rd ? And if the item was to be split what could you expect to get for the canon and flash without the lens ?

Try searching under completed listings in ebay. That might give you an idea.

Ruben have in mind that maybe that lens would block a big amount of the IIIf viewfinder (and probably rangefinder window as well). Also, dunno if the baselength of the IIIf rangefinder is long enough to focus this lens accurately at wide apertures...

[self]Files away good to know info, well, you know, for just-in-case it ever pops up in front of me. I may be a Contax geek, but that combo sounds like it would be fun.[/self]

I do have a vievfinder for the hot shoe with some kind of paralax correction so it could do - has anyone here posted pictures shot with the 1:1,2 wide open - I am naturally interested in the out of focus areas smoothness as I would like to use the lens for really low light situations typically with candles/steet lights/consert light in the background or other objects that will look awfull with a bad bokeh lens.

If you sold half the get-up you could pay for the other half!

Here's one, but it will probably finish much higher.

Re: Canon VT package-looks good
Looks fairly good, but have you ever noticed how this seller seems to describe all his items almost exactly the same way?
Also, although he seems to have positioned the lens hood to hide it, it looks as if there's some corrosion by the eyepiece, and the eyepiece ring looks non-standard. Every Canon of this era that I've ever seen has a black-enameled eyepiece ring, so I don't know what that satin-chrome thing is...
As long as I'm carping, I wish he'd spend a little less time telling us how beautiful, rare and 'minty' it is, and a little more time on such things as whether the shutter curtains are fabric or metal, and whether the finder is warm-toned or cold-toned; these are points of difference on various Canon V variants.
Still, if you want a Vt, this is a desirable package (although the price seems steep.) As someone else noted, the 50/1.2 lens doesn't perform as well as Canon's 50/1.4 -- but it's decent, it looks very cool, and that shade is just icing on the cake!
I can't imagine anyone actually using the flash unit, but it would be handy for demonstrating Canon's clever attachment system of a bayonet ring around the PC outlet.
