I just received in the mail a Canon VT.
Everything seems to be fine with it but there's one thing..

The top part of the rewind knob doesn't stay down..
The bottom part locks when the back it closed but if the whole camera is turned upside down then the upper-portion slides out..
I can't really even tell what would normally keep it down.

So anyone who has a VT:

First of all, is it supposed to stay down?
second, what keeps it down?
and third, does anyone know how to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have a correctly working VT, and I really like it.

When you turn the lever next to the rewind knob in the direction of the arrow, it should "pop out", mine seems to be spring-loaded. And when you push the knob down, it should stay down, with a soft "click".

http://www.essexcamera.com/ is my Canon repair facility of current choice. They have never let me down.
