Hey,
After a couple of months really enjoying my Canonet all of a sudden my advance lever got stuck. Its stuck pretty much halfway and its not able to move. Im not able to fire the camera, so its unusable now. Does anyone know how i can repair this problem, so that im able to use this lovely camera again?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

How handy are you?
The mechanism is not that difficult to get to.
Hey, if I can do it, I'm sure you can.

I had a similar problem with a GIII/QL. I ended up selling it on eBay to a gentleman who specializes in fixing up these cameras. I don't know if he does repairs, but you might be able to trade your broken Canonet plus some cash for a working one. His eBay ID was "likaleica" and it was a pleasant transaction.
FWIW, it seems to me that he later told me the problem with my camera had been a small gear coming loose.

Mark Hama, the Yashica Guy, repairs these I believe.

If you want the service manual for the GIII, which does include diagrams, let me know.

the service manual would be handy maybe i can figure something out by that.
I dont want to send it of for service since that will cost as much as getting a different canonet.

Hi Rob
do you have a film in the camera? In this case you might be able to rewind by pressing the rewind knob. Leave the film trailer out of the can for later.
Then try whether you can cock and fire the shutter without a film in the camera.
My QL17GIII has had every defect that i read about (well...) and somehow it is still alive.
