Hello, I'm new to the forum and hope somebody can give me some advise:

since recently i'm the owner of a Canonet QL17 GIII and after rapairing, new seals etc.. it is ready to shoot. the bad thing is: It came with a original leather case but its kind of falling apart and everywhere over the camera and my hands are these little black "flakes"! really annoying...

does anybody know a good alternative to this case for not that much money? 🙂

I found these: http://cgi.ebay.de/Canon-QL17-QL-GIII-RF-QL-17-Camera-Faux-Leather-Case_W0QQitemZ130358978978QQcategoryZ64335QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp5197.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6134859402981750942#ht_568wt_907

some korean replicas I think?
anybody ever tried/had one of these?

thanks for your help!

My GL 17 case did the exact same thing.

I picked up a neoprene case which fits nice and snug. Go to your local camera shop and ask.

Canonet eveready cases came in various forms.

Canonet eveready cases came in various forms.

The one you have is more common and rarely survived. However there were other cases over the many years and models of canonet built in the housing of the 17.

I have one (and have seen a number) that is molded plastic. It's original period style. It's fairly durable, but has a tendency to develop a couple of small cracks near the strap studs.

I did just note one that actually looks like one of the older formed leather (may be plastic as well), on Australia eBay site:

There is one caution here. There were two sizes of Canonets and your GIII is the shorter of the bodies. The other Canonets were about and inch longer. The one tell tale on your Canonet is the plastic finger catch on the cocking lever.

The one in the Australian eBay listing could be the longer Canonet, so you may want to inquire on the body length before picking one up this way. Your GIII is 4 3/4 inches long.
The larger Canonets are almost an inch longer.

You will most often find cases with cameras, so look for broken or parts cameras, like the one shown here.
