I havent seen many around but I know they exist. Does anyone know how they compare to the QL17s ?

I have a non-GIII QL19 (same lens, just no battery check and a couple of other minor differences): Flickr set here
Function-wise, they're exactly the same. Great shooters. The main difference is that the QL19s have fewer lens elements than the QL17s and obviously a slightly different minimum aperature. That said, I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between shots taken with my QL19 from shots taken with my QL17. If you have the chance to get a QL19 for a good price, I'd say go for it!

I have both a Canonet QL17 GIII and a QL19 GIII and they are both great little cameras. The only real differences are the battery check display is in the viewfinder, the shutter cocked indicator is missing and the focal length of the lens is 45mm instead of the 40mm with the QL17 GIII. As "Filmgoerjuan" point out the lens is a 5 element lens instead of 6, and of course it's a 1.9 against a 1.7. the 19 is much rarer than the 17, and if you get a chance to buy a nice one you will not be disappointed. 😀
