Canonet New ql19 mr-9 adapter doesn't fit?

I have an MR-9 adapter from smallbattery. I picked up a canonent "new" ql19 recently, and it so happens that 386 battery with mr-9 adapter does not fit. Well, I can force it in, but it's definitely way too tight (and next to impossible to get out - took a good 20 minutes).

This seems to be the common suggestion as an adapter for these cameras - has anyone else had this issue?

There are websites that bring the original battery from out of the country that will work. I can't remember now as I gave that camera away but it had the correct battery. Google the correct battery #
