Hello,
My dad used an original-model QL17 for 30 years, then gave it to me a few years ago. It has a 45/1.7 lens and a foggy viewfinder, but the meter seemed accurate when I ran it with an MR-9 adapter, and the body looks nearly perfect -- I don't think it's ever been removed from its case. Now I'm thinking about having it CLA'ed so that I can shoot with it. I haven't found much information about this generation of the Canonet. Since this is the earlier model, it doesn't do the neat flash tricks that the GIII can do with the Canonlite D, am I right? Is there anything peculiar with this camera that I need to know?

I've got a QL17, and I think it's a fine camera. I've also got the GIII, and find little to choose between them, except for the method of testing the battery. The Canolite D functions the same on either model. Same pin structure on the hot shoe on both. The top can easily be removed for access, allowing for cleaning of the viewfinder and rangefinder elements. It's also easy to replace the light seals.

With a CLA, it'll be ready for another 30 years of service.

Regards!
Don
