Just a quick question.... or two....Were all QL17 G-III 's made in "Taiwan" (as mine is) ? And does the serial numbers give any indication of year of manufacture eg. H97673 ?
I believe the early GIII's were made in Japan. I have a made in Japan QL17L which preceded the GIII, and a Taiwan GIII.

Had a look at mine. It's made in Taiwan. Serial appears to be 006581.

I have 2 of them, one black (Japan) and one chrome (Taiwan). At least with mine, the quality is good in both samples.

Well-known
Think it will be more to do with cost of manufacture/assembly.

"Flim? You want flim?"
Probably most important to collectors, but not to users.

Inside the film compartment has a letter then a few numbers plaster in ink. The letter designates the year. An "O" will tell me it was made in 1974. R would be a 1975. Any Canon camera with the ink stamp will help you designate the year made
