Canonet QL17 GIII problem.

I just recieved my camera in the mail last night, and everything was in perfect condition, until i tried to focus it. When i focus it, it shows the framebox moving diagnoally, but doesn't move the focus at all. The lens itself also moves in and out, but just will not chnge it's focus. Anyone know how to fix this, or if there IS any problem with it?.

Sean, you mean - two pictures in RF patch can not be got together into one ? But at least there is RF patch visible in VF ?

Um, er, . . . remember you are not looking through the lens. The scene in the viewfinder always retains the same "focus". Only the central RF patch and the framing guides move.

And yes I occasionally forget to take the lens cap off.

If the lens is moving in and out then the camera is focusing. Make sure that the RF patches are moving together as you focus. If not, than the rangefinder /viewfinder apparatus is broken.

Try focusing on a vertical line and make sure to look at the center only.
