Canonet QL17 GIII

Hi Can someone tell me do all Canonet's have a problem with the self timer, I have three of them and none work (the timer that is), it's not a huge issue, but I was just wondering am I unlucky?

Oh, I don't know, my guess is that you are unlucky. The one I had worked well.

I've had three Canonets and the self timer worked on all of them.... It's always a bit risky to try the self timer on these old cameras! I've had a couple of old Voigtlanders that have jammed up...🙁

It so happens my self-timer works. This will help out when I sell it in a few weeks.

The timer on my QL17 seems to work as well...maybe we all just got lucky.

Just to echo what Silva said above. Many users recommend never using the timer as it can jam the shutter.

My Canonet's self timer works but I agree with the above posts that I try to avoid using them if possible. I had a Rolleiflex twin lens camera and the self timer jammed the shutter after trying the self timer. Eventually, I was able to keep fiddling with it and it unjammed. I never touched it again.

Checked them over again QL17 GIII is ok (not sure why I thought it didn't work!!) the QL17 works intermittently & the QL19 is saying noway Jose!

I tried my self timer for the first time about a week ago. It didn't work at first. Then I read the manual. It worked after that, lol.
