I love this little camera and want to get it back to 100%. I purchased it off these forums a few years ago knowing that the fill advance counter does not work with hopes to fix it. After a few moves I finally found it and wanted to run some film through it. It works great with a few exceptions.

1.) The film counter does not work ( I remember it being a somewhat technical fix).

2.) The 2 rolls that I have put through it have produced scratches on the negatives about every fourth frame that runs about 4 frames. This one baffles me because I opened it up and did not find any protrusions that might cause this. Ideas?

Ultimately with how busy I am with work, I would like to just take it to someone to fix. It doesn't really matter where in the USA but I do not know where to start looking. I did a basic google search "canonet QL17 repair" but it yielded no real good results. I vaguely remember that there was a member "Greyhoundman" maybe that might have done repairs?

Thanks in advance,
~m

I like this camera as well but am now on my third one. Once they go belly up it is cheaper to buy a new one than fix the one you have.

I think G-Man is semi-retired from camera repair.

Essex Camera services them, but they are not cheap.

Classic Camera Repair Forum (google, don't have the link handy) will help with do it yourself repairs.

IIRC there are some diagrams of the frame counter around the web too.
