Hello!
This Canonet QL25 does not cock the shutter: after winding the film lever, the film take-up spool moves as expected but when I press the shutter release just a faint click is heard and the shutter blades stay closed. This happens both with and without bateries. The diaphragm opens and closes as expected. Any sugestions for diagnosis and treatment?
And a more basic question - as it is probable that I will need to go through this: how do I remove the top, especially the winding lever ??
Thank you
Joao

I'm not really familiar with this model, but it sounds like it may be the typical Canonet stuck shutter. Search around here and over at the Classic Camera Repair Forum for lots of discussion and hints on this.

Thank you for your input. Most of the instructions I've found concern other more known Cononet models. If they are adequate to the QL25 (they prbably are) it seems that I must try some shutter blade cleaning before anything else.

Most of the newer Canonet models followed the same design. You will probably need to access the front or back of the lens, ratherthan remove the top. More information here:

If you can contact Kim Coxon via the Pentax manuals website above, he would be a good man to ask.
