Canonet Repair tips

My hotshoe on my QL-17 recently stopped functioning and I was wondering if anyone knew of an online repair guide, or what might be wrong. I need to know how to take off the film advance lever assembly so I can take off the top of the body. Any tips?

Hi, Joe.
You can use a faucet washer (the kind with a hole in it) to press down and grip the chrome trim ring to unscrew it. (counterclockwise) Then the top will be pretty easy to remove.
