Canoscan 8600F Flatbed

I posted here a week ago or so on Scanners on a budget. Well Id like to know if anyone has the aformentioned scanner and has any comments to make about it. Its within my budget, and I wonder if other software is available for it.

My aims are to print 80% 4x6 using my Selphy 810, 15% 8x10 using some printer that I havent got yet, and uploading images to my site and flickr.

Hi!

I've got an earlier version (4200F), and think it's pretty good. It should be operable with the software that comes with it, or with the Selphy software. My 4200F triggers the "Canoscan" software from my Canon Pixma iP5000 printer, and I'd be surprised if your setup wouldn't act similarly. Perhaps somebody else has first-hand information.

Actually would you please -Id love to see actual real-world results from this machine.

Everywhere I go the sales people try and vaunt me onto the higher end models and the Epson V series which may be great etc but hey this thing is $150, all I want is to upload and print 4x6s......

Awesome! This is exactly what I need! Are there any particular images in your gallery which are from this machine -or all of them?!
