Not sure if this is me, a hardware issue or a software issue. Using latest version of VueScan with a Pacific Image 120Pro film scanner and I can't seem to get a full-frame scan. As visible in the image below, the previewed/scanned image always tends to weight to the bottom, leaving a large amount of space at the top (relatively) and cutting out the bottom of the negative.

My preference has always been full-frame scanning/printing for 35mm negatives, with the black border of the frame included in the final image. When I insert the negative into the holder for scanning, depending on the camera (this is with a pentax spotmatic SP), the full image area is visible in the window with perhaps 0.5mm visible of clear around it. (Not describing this well)

Does anybody know of any way to adjust the scan area on the PF120 Pro to I guess center the scan in the window better? I've tried multiple adjustments in the software, all to no avail. The PF software (CyberViewX) gives what seems to be a similar scan, defaulting only to the image area and not giving an option to expand the scan area to include the borders. Like I said, I don't think I'm explaining my issue/question well, but the included image hopefully shows what I'm talking about.

Help!!!

Thanks

Hi -- sorry no expert here. I've generally not managed to make scanning software work that well. Is there an option to manually set the size scanned, or does it automatically select the area to be scanned? I'm sure there are folks here with experience with this software who can advise..... (I know this is not terribly helpful, but for b/w I have had more success scanning using a digital camera but thats a whole different subject...). I hope you get this sorted out....

The software allows for manually setting scans as well as a number of presets for various common sizes (8x10, 11x14, etc.). It also has "x" and "y" axis settings, but I've never been able to see any results from monkeying around with those. Have emails off to both software and hardware folks to see if they have any input. Thanks for your reply.
