My GF inherited an A1 and for some odd reason it wont mount any FD lenses, Canon or third party. You can "turn it" to a point but it won't click like it usually does. The aperture rings are also not moving, on any of the lenses.

This is probably some real rookie but i really don't know what the issue may be.

Here's some images of the 50 FD mount and the camera mount - any idea?

On the earlier FD lenses make sure the red dot on the chrome female breach ring is set at 12:00 so the lens can seat on the camera body. Also depress the small black lock button on the aperture ring and turn it to any aperture so it is no longer locked on the green A for program or shutter priority use.

Define the "it" you're turning.

With FD and FDn lenses, unlike the newer NewFD lenses, don't turn relative to the body when mounting. Only the chrome ring turns and it never "clicks". It just tightens snugly.

Also, while the original FD lenses lacked a lock on the f/stop ring the later FDn lenses, like the newest NewFD lenses, have a lock to keep the f/stop ring locked on the green automatic position, either a green "A" or circle. With the A-1, you would unlock the f/stop ring to set the aperture only when in Manual mode. When using any of the automatic modes, including the Av (aperture priority) mode you leave the lens locked on the green "A" or circle.
