I'll be visiting Cape Cod for a weekend in mid-May. it will be my first time visiting Cape Cod.

Any locations that are particularly good for photography?

Thanks.

Ellen

Marthas Vineyard is cool if you can get there. Other then that, just drive around and explore.

Provincetown and the nearby dunes are wonderful and still quiet in May.
Look at Callahan and Meyerowitwz work on the Cape for inspiration.

Yeah, I would recommend the dunes north of Provincetown. Nice area. Just be aware that the drive to the end will take a few hours. It's longer than it looks.

Chatham Beach Lighthouse, beach and trails in the area. National Seashore, Coast Guard Beach, etc. Wellfleet with its beaches and trails in the surrounding area.

Lots of maps and the cape is not that big, enjoy the visit!

Ellen, prior to reaching Eastham there is the Cape Code Museum of Natural History in Brewster which has some wonderful trails behind the museum that lead out to beaches, a simply beautiful spot. In Wellfleet there is the Wellfleet Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary which has beautiful trails and scenery as well as a nice trail called the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp trail as part of the National Seashore. In Chatham there is also the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge which you can catch a boat out to a remote area. Way to much to get in in weekend but usually in mid-May you still do not have the summer crowds and can cover ground much easier. I spent a couple of weeks in late August on the Outer Cape. Simply beautiful. Enjoy the trip!

I think Provincetown is a good place for photography.

This is one view from the top of the Pilgrim Tower accessible from the museum in the middle of the town.

I'll second the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. Great trails and the tide goes out so far in Brewster. Visited many times as a boy and my parents retired there in the 80's.

Just watch out for all the poison ivy on the trails - it loves the sand dunes.

Nice image! Very sharp, too!

What camera and lens on this image?

I'll be heading to Provincetown for sure.

Thanks for sharing the image.

Ellen
