Hi, I just bought a lens which I hope is a real Biogon and not a Russian forgery. Could you tell me by these pics?

It looks "real" but you need to show the rear of the lens.
Anyway, many of the Russian copies are better. It doesn't make much difference, and these lenses are cheap.

Looks real to me. Check to see if the last 6 digits of the serial number are stamped on the black ring around the rear lens group- this is a pretty good indicator. Serial number corresponds to those shown in Thiele's book of CZJ lenses for the Biogons. I have one of these with serial number 2673394, and it looks exactly like yours. Mine has the serial number stamping on the rear group

This is real. You got a great deal too. The optical and mechanical quality of the Zeiss Biogon far exceeds the J-12 (which is a good lens for the money).

I checked the rear of the lens, the barrel there has indeed the last figures of the serial no. I will check it out and compare it to my KMZ J-12 from 1956. Thanks for your comments!

Genuine 100%. Looks to be a prewar or early wartime Biogon, and this is a coated T one ! Congrats for that deal.
