Hello,
I came across with this kind of lens. I did not pay anything for it and I have no idea what it is for.
What mount is this and is it possible to use on a Leica m-mount camera?
Have any of you any idea what would this be worth?
Thanks!

Looks like a late 1930s Tessar in Exakta mount.

This lens was also available in a collapsible mount for the Contax Rangefinder camera.

I recently bought two F3.5 Tessars in Exakta mount for $15 each. Not as easy to convert to Leica mount with these lenses as the optics fit into a different fixture than that used in the Collapsible mount. The inner portion of the helicle is combined with the optical fixture. You need to construct a housing to convert it to Leica mount. So the short answer is: cannot be used with a Leica M-Mount camera without extensive hacking.

I bought a few years ago a 50/2.8 Tessar in LTM mount. It was custom adapted by a previous owner from M42 to LTM. The machining looks professionally done. It may have cost me $250. Brian gave me the "green light", and I bought it.

I've used a 50 and a more rare and excellent 40mm in m42 mount. The m42 50 is common and inexpensive. Be sure you don't end up with the semi-automatic pre-set version. They work great on an eos or Pentax Dslr with an adapter.

In the 30's and 40's a Zeiss lens in a Leica mount was a dream for a lot of people and several small firms did conversions. Look in magazines from that period and you'll see them advertised new and second-hand.
