All;

I just picked up a Zeiss 25/28mm External Viewfinder for a recently-purchased lens for my M8.

Anyone found a decent case for the viewfinder or one of similar size?

Thanks

Brad

I used one of my son's infant socks, still do. I just tie the top loosely and it is perfect.

Finder cases

I use small leather pop open coin cases that I find at craft shows for about $4-6.

It is strange that such a premium priced finder does not come with a decent case. They do come in a cardboard box, and that's about it. I have the 21mm and the 25/28, and I'm still looking for small cases to fit in my small Domke bags. The drawstring bags are not a bad idea. Still, someone must make a range of small cases for such things!

Thought I might add pic of cases that I use to carry finders & my pol. filter.

Coin/change purse/cases that I found at art/craft fairs around the state where I live. Soft and nondestructive for most metal objects.

A while ago very nice sheep leather lens pouches in various sizes were available through ebay from a couple of sellers in China/HK, but they seem to have somehow disappeared now. Anyway, that's what I'm using for my VF's and lenses.

Two best cases for such items:
1) the leather bag that comes w/ Hexanon lenses.
2) the thick leather bag that comes w/ the new Summarit lenses.

I use these for pricey accessories and my lenses.

I found a small Leica leather finder case on ebay for about $25. They are a bit larger than the ones that came with the older 21/28 finders and they fit the zeiss finders perfectly. They offer some structure and padding to protect the finder. This was the last one available before Leica used the 21/24/28 finder as a replacement for individual finders.

Found this old thread accidentally while searching for the same question. I just ordered Matin microfiber pouch small size on the fleabay. Seems like the best solution to keep the viewfinders scratch free and clean in the same time.

I have one finder in s thin drawstring bag. I wouldn't want to drop it. Years and years ago at a now defunct deluxe Melbourne department store I bought two Italian leather zippered cylindrical pouches. There was no earthly use for either, one green, one red. But twenty years later they were perfect for the finders, 25/8 in green and 21 in red. They sit on top of the lens in the bag, signalling which lens is which, and they're big enough that I would know if one is missing (left on a table, bench etc.) If I dropped one - still haven't - they would cushion the fall perfectly.
