i sent my front element off to the u.k. this morning for polishing / recoating as required. i'll post a note here with the results.

wow.. i can't wait to get my hands on my summarit lens :bang: although, i'm quite worried about the front element coating. it can't be cleaned. repolish/recoat is maybe a solution. :rolleyes:

very amazed of the images i'm seeing right now taken with this lens..

Thanks ! It is an interesting lens (when clean !) but needs lots of light ! ;)

Dirk, this is pure poison...it swirls without you even asking for it so to say...:bang::bang:

Can't wait until mine arrives, I'm so curious about the nick it's in!
 
I have the same lens on my IIIc and am very fond of it. Great for shooting in low light with slow film. Haven't been shooting so much wide open, as I always seem to end up missing focus, end up shooting it at f2 to 2.8 a lot.

Thanks Dave, but before I shoot more, I'm going to get my Summarit re-lubed, the focussing is a little too stiff now for my taste, it's just not allowing me to shoot fast enough, so I guess it'll be a while before I'll post more...:eek:
 
BB that rainy shot is just beautiful + you get some seriously nice colors out of your Summarit!

I envy you about shooting HK soon ;-)
 
I had a mint condition Summarit that I sold because I needed the money to put towards an M8.

As I already had a 35mm summicron, 50mm summicron and 90mm Tele Elmarit (pluas a Summitar and some Canon 50s in LTM) I felt I could not justify the addtional lens but really did need some cash to invest in the M8.

I really regret letting it go and have from day 1. Not only do these lenses have a lovely signature they are hard to get in excellent condition, which mine was. Now that I see these lovely photos I regret it even more.........damn damn damn.

Well done by the way the photogrpahy is very good.
