This is a post I put on one of my shots in the gallery. Why is the name of the African nation that rhymes with Tiger, censored out?

"I walked by this little one table french place, and snapped this shot. I walked in an asked her about things. She is from *****, is French speaking of course, and says the crepes are very good. This little place is very unique. Very quiet and very out of place, out of time. Very unusual. I intend to go back next week and have something there (I was penniless at the moment of this photo)."

Did I not spell that country's name correctly? n-i-g-e-r. . . ? Right?

***** - ha ha! did it again!

of course, it doesn't actually rhyme with tiger. neezhair. . .

You are not incorrect in your spelling of N-I-G-E-R, the RFF BBS software has this word on the bad word list and kills it automatically. The software has that word misspelled (assuming it was meant to remove the word with 2 letters "G").

It does seem like that's carrying Political Correctness a bit too far, doesn't it? Next time, George, write about a woman from Cameroon. So far today that's two places where women are from that is considered NOT-PC.

Those are bad ones! How about ******************* ?

Oh yeah. I just tested a whole bunch of them. As* and As*h*** aren't on the list though.

I don't think "political correctness" has anything to do with it. Just a crappy program that doesn't know how to spell (or can't understand context).

They should censor the people who can't spell from implementing software in the first place. Makes the use of correct language reedeekulos

Mai too sense ;)

You guys are going to keep the moderators very busy adding words to the censor list. The word censor list uses wild cards. The entry hasselb* would censor out hasselblad, hasselblader, and hasselblading.

I am the adult supervisor on a high school student BB. With wildcards we can get away with only 10 words. And NO!, I wil not tell you those words. ;) :p

Maybe we'll all have to resort to leet-speak:

"She is from |\|1g3r, is French speaking of course..."

I understand why we have this system. It makes sense to censor such language, because trolls exist. They exist purely to destroy places like this - and language is one way they do that.

Bugger.

and one particularly vile Mexican variation of the same concept

Seriously, if you find an error in the programming send a PM to Jorge.
