The cell is an Eveready 412, available on ebay or from a few online retailers.
i find a lot of bulbs at flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores. Ebay retailers are starting to catch on that there is some value for the things.
I have two nearly mint CEYOO units and can't get them to work for the life of me. I found that the B-C unit needed a new capacitor. I also have the battery unit that takes 4 AA batteries and can't get that to fire a bulb no matter what I try. All the contacts have been cleaned everywhere, including in the base of the unit where the sync cord plugs in.
Let us know if you have any difficulties. I'd love to hear if others are having the same issues I am.

O h gosh Dave isn't a flash sacrilegious on an M3, just saying.

When the M3 was released, flash was not sacrilegious. I have been trying to find out when the paradigm shift in thought occurred that RF's were largely cameras to be used for available light shooting only. If you look at news coverage from when everyone was using a RF, everyone was using flash. Even the hobbyists used flash since most film was just far too slow.
Anyone have any insight into this question? (sorry to derail the thread.)

I am sure you are wrong, I saw a picture of Adam and Eve with an M3 and NO flash. This goes way back. LOL. Anyone seen the video of Bruce Guilden blinding hapless folks with his flash? All in a days work.

Bruce Gilden is brutal in his work but he certainly gets the job done and does it very well.

I always thought the main reason you saw old news photogs and their M's, Nikons, Graphics etc with a bloody great flash, was so they could use small apertures and not have to worry to much about focusing?

I can tell folks for certain it is not a 412 for a Leica CEYOO. I have just bought a new 412/PX72/MN122 and it does not fit. It is too fat and too square shouldered to fit in the tube. I wonder if it is a BR122, which is the same height and width but only 12mm deep as opposed to the 16mm of the 412. Some sites say the 412 is the same as a BR122 but some list different sizes - very helpful! The alternative is a 505/BR155, which is almost tubular 16mm. My manual is no help - it just says a 22.5V battery available from your Leica dealer. Has anyone bought a battery recently, which they have actually fitted in their CEYOO, rather than I have heard that my uncle's second cousin heard from a friend that XXX fitted.

Thanks for taking the lead on this anachronistic adventure: I have yet to move forward. My CEYOO arrived with a (dead) Mallory M-215 and, while it's a tight fit, the battery does go down the tube. The tube is slightly asymmetric in cross-section: are you sure you have the carrier aligned at 12 o'clock or 6 o-clock? My earlier eBay link shows the Eveready 412, and Eveready is the successor company to Mallory.
