Does anyone know if the white paint fills on a 10 year old Leica lens can be permanently changed in color by simply going over it with a "Sharpie" marker or does it have some sort of clear coat to prevent this?

Use some lacquer thinner on a cotton swab to remove the first color. A wood round tooth pick will help.

Replace with new color from a paint stick from micro tools.com.

You smear the color on like lipstick over the engravings, then wipe off the surplus leaving the paint in the engraving. There will be a haze left outside the engraving. Allow to dry 24 hours and finsh with a light wipe with a rag. maybe a dab of thinner on it.

Removing all the old paint is important.
