Hi! I have owned a brand new Leica M-E for 1 week. I have 2 batteries that both show only 75% charged in camera after being fully charged? Why is that?

Are they genuine Leica batteries or after market?
Are you sure they are fully charged? - if they are the green and orange lights on the recharging unit should both be on with no flashing.

I'm not a battery tech but I've read unused batteries develop their full capacity after some charging/use cycles. Then it depends on how camera interprets what battery reports to it. It could always report 100% after charging and or show less if camera "knows" that battery isn't fully broken in. That's laughable explanation from scientific point of view, of course.

It could be that way. They are brand new, charged only two times. The first time battery that came with the camera was charged it showed 100% in camera. But now around 75%. I guess I will keep shooting and see what happens.

I've never experienced that with three bodies plus their spare batteries. My guess is a bad charger.

Hi,
Batteries don't take a full charge at first but slowly build up to it. And the full, 66% and worry indicators in cameras are a bit crude. Meaning (say) 70% will show as full...

Thanks! I will be patient. I guess I react when spending this kind of money on a camera.
