I have to disagree. I have an .85 MP and I find it near perfect for the 35-50-90mm combo. I prefer it over the .72 for the 35mm fram lines.

I like the full fiew of the .85 finder with a 35mm lens too, but can't see how it would be possible to use a .85 finder with a 28mm lens, because I can't see all of the 35mm framelines at once.

You should be able to see the 35 mm frame lines on your .85, though it does involve a bit of searching around the VF when wearing eyeglasses. But in the case of a 28, there are no frame lines of course on a .85, but you basically are getting what you're seeing in the VF. In other words, what you see is what you get. I'm contemplating adding a 28 to my kit, but for now am satisfied with the 35 v1 lux, 50 cron, 90 elmarit and 135.

With my thick eyewear I thought it would be the best choice. That plus my preferred lenses.


I'm going to get a Leica 28mm and 35mm. I have some CV for it but hey...I wanna have the whole "experience" , so any suggestions on which models? I'll be shooting mostly B&W.

Rough idea on a fair price for a clean used ones?
 
Congratulations on your new purchase. I'm sure you'll enjoy the .58 - you won't know what you're missing in the .72 or .85, so you'll adapt to what you have. I haven't had the pleasure of trying a .58, but it'll be ideally suited to the wider angle lenses that you intend on using.

As for lenses, I don't have a 28, but if you can get your hands on a version 1 asph. 35 lux you'll be extremely pleased with the results. Can be a bit pricey though since few of these babies were made because of manufacturing issues. A lot of threads out there on various versions of luxes and crons from users far more experienced than I. I'll be watching out for responses here as much as you. Take care and have fun with the new "toy"!
 
I know it's not what you asked for (Leica lens advice) but you might be doing yourself a favour by checking out the new Zeiss lenses. I have no first hand info, but I've heard from any photogs that the Zeiss 35 is to die for.
