Cheap Chinese ltm to M adapter on 35mm f3.5 W-Acall Kyoei

Just got a Pixco ltm to M adapter for my 35mm W-Acall Kyoei. Flange thickness appears to be correct and it brings up the right framelines.

Downside:

*The lens rotates 2cm not far enough (11 o'clock) when being mounted so that the focusing index is not dead centre at the top😱.

*Quite difficult to dismount lens from camera😡.

I can live with the first, but not the second.

Just venting ... after a three week wait:bang:

This happens with expensive adapters too.

Robert, that s*cks. You waited for a long time to use the lens, now this.

Have a close look at the adapter and specifically the notch in which the camera locks. It might be just a bit tight. If it's a brass adapter, try scraping off a small amount of brass with a sharp knife, the metal is soft enough to give. If chromed, you need a bit more persuasion, but it'll still be brass underneath.
I used a sharp facto knife to make a shallow cut in the brass along the 'bottom' of the notch, then scrape off a bit of the edges and still have sharp edges when done.

It could also be an issue with the flanges of the adapter gripping into the mount, but that should loosen up over time.
(I hope I'm making sense here...?)

Anyway, make sure you get rid of all cutting residues on the adapter, if they break off, you might find sharp sliths of metal floating around in your camera😱

No wonder they asked me to leave positive feedback before 😡the item arrived.

Yes, such issues seem to be quite often the curse with cheap adapters. I bought a cheap 50-75 mm adapter a few weeks ago and on my ZI it's bringing up partially the 50 mm framelines, and partially the 28/85 lines. Speaking of which, can anything be done to correct this by e.g. filing the adapter a bit somewhere?

Thanks very much, at least now I know where to look for possible machining/coating residue that should not be there. Hopefully I won't have to add anything, would probably not be worth it.

Hi Johan,

Unfortunately it didn't work. I'll have to take a look with the shutter set on B. The 1mm red dot on the ltm to M adapter has to be perfectly aligned with the camera's lens mount bayonet lock, in order to remove the lens (1mm to either side and the lens won't budge:bang🙂. When you release the lens it goes way beyond the bayonet's lock release point😱 VOODOO!

Robert, have a look at eBay item nr. 200286145995.

I bought from this fellow spring last year and all three adapters were fine. They cost me EUR 35 with shipping included for the three of them! 😱 He still has those sets: item nr. 110321539622.

Hi Johan,

It's so much better now!!! In the end I had to remove some brass, about 4mm 😱, from one of the flanges and go over some parts with lapping compound. The final test will be with some film.
