Anyone using a Rainbowimaging one? There is one on amazonia for $26.
I only have a Nokton 35 1.4 from my M6 that I would like to try on the X-E1.

I just got the Rainbowimaging one yesterday! It seems well built and my CV 40/1.4 focuses perfectly on it. No issues so far.

I have the Rainbowimaging for NEX and it works but the M lens does not lock in (the locking pin does not snap in).

I have a rainbowimaging for canon FD, it works flawlessly, if the M are made the same way you should be satisfied.

Are there any sample images? Any issues like focus at infinity?
I haven't been able to find to much information on this adapter :/

(Not specific to Rainbowimaging)

(1) It's a pretty basic piece of precision machining. Any good machine shop should be able to make one.

(2) Not all machine shops are good

(3) Our esteemed host sells Voigtländer ones for $59 and $69. Yes, it's over twice the price, but what are you ready to pay (a) for peace of mind and (b) to support the person who supports this forum? To me, $33-$43 extra seems like a fair expenditure.

Cheers,

R.

It's a question of precision. It needs to be very accurate in its thickness or the dimensional error in body, lens and adapter can add up and degrade image. High precision is not cheap so I would second Rogers suggestion of buying only good quality adapters.

As a side note, many years ago I owned the worlds ugliest Nikon F. It worked well but was so beat up I took it into the QC department of the machine shop I worked in at that time. They put it on their CMM and measured the distance between the film rails and the lens flange and got the same reading all around to the limit of their accuracy which at that time (1976) was one ten thousandths of an inch. This tells me Nikon places importance on film to lens accuracy.

Buy the Good Stuff. Joe

rainbow imaging has theirs on ebay for $18 shipped. not a bad deal. it's not the best adapter out there, but it works fine.

I ended up getting the Rainbowimaging one. Works fine. Focus to infinity and the lens is very solid on camera with very little play.
