Cheap MF neg scanning

This may well have been discussed to death, but my search-fu is failing to find anything.

I doubt that I'm going to be able to set up to print at home anytime soon and I can't afford dark room time at the few places I know of around here. So that means that if I really want to do much MF, I really need to figure out how to scan the negs that I can do up in Diafine.

So is there anything out there that is 1) dirt cheap 2) gives acceptable results and 3) did I mention dirt cheap? Used or ebay is fine if it's cheap enough. Or I could trade a Ansco Speedex Special "R", a Mamiya 1000 DTL, a Fed 5, and/or a really mangled Kiev II.

Thanks,

William

Rover, does anyone make those items for 35MM film strips? I have read about using toothpicks at the frame between pics, but havn't tried it yet.

I think the film holders on the current Epson scanners are much better. I have the 3200 and have been having trouble with curled (the long way) film strips lately. I have taken to scanning the negative upside down so that the curl doesn't his the scanner glass. I have also thought about rigging up a toothpick solution, but haven't done that yet.
