I sympathise with with you to an extent 🙂
My bet: the sales territory for the UK office includes Ireland. If they sell to someone outside their sales territory, the revenue is counted towards a different Fujifilm office, which "owns" the territory the sale is made to. Also, in a typically corporate way, I'll bet the cost of refurbishment is still billed to the UK office, even if all the revenue is counted to the other office. So where's their incentive to sell outside their territory? Not where their sales director can find it, that's for sure! They state, they are Fujifilm UK, and therefore only sell to their marketplace. However, they do not explain why they sell to Ireland then, which certainly is not UK.

Teuthida, yes, it is indeed a quirky camera. I love it nearly as much as my Hexar AF.
In other words, you never took the time to learn the camera. Why you would brag about that is an interesting question. Why you still have a camera that you dislike even as it depreciates (as all digital ameras do) is another interesting question.
.
No, that's not it at all. Fuji didn't take the time to make a camera that could be used without constantly ploughing thru menus to undo what shouldn't have happened in the first place. Ease of use is the gold standard of design. fuji failed miserably on the basics.
Why you would find that offensive is an interesting question. Could it be that you're married to your opinion since you bought the camera? You are, I note, very proud of your opinions.
I'll throw it in my bag, then take it out to shoot only to find its reset itself to all sorts of whacky settings it takes 20 minutes to undo. I eventually just gave up.
Personally, I never use the Menu anymore:
Aperture is adjusted by the dedicated aperture ring at the lens.
Exposure time is adjusted by the dedicated time ring on top.
EV is adjusted by the dedicated ring on top (which easily changes itself 🙁 )
ISO is changed when pushing the Fn-Button (to do so by using the menu once)
ND-Filter is toggled by the RAW-Button (by setting it up in the menu once)
To watch the pictures on the sreen use the play, (+), (-) and waste buttons
Whats exactly quirky here?
Maybe s.b. does not like it like this but I don't think it's quirky. It's the fastest UI I used on a figutal AF so far. Very close to what I liked so much (besides the on/off button) with my Minolta CLE.
Doesn't seem like that long ago that people were paying more than a grand to buy one of these....
It's a refurb direct from Fujifilm, I just ordered one after a mate got his - it's like new and comes with a full 1 year warranty.
