Chicago RRF group

any noctilux's going to pop up at a get together?
id really like to try one out.

I think Bud Green has one, but he's scarce these days.

I'm up for a meet whenever. Well, mostly whenever - I don't think posting my vacation schedule online is a good idea though. ;)

I literally just got my first RF, been shooting an Oly E1 for the last 4 years. In fact, still lookig for my first lens for my new Bessa T...

Nonetheless, would be down to meet up. :)

We can meet, impromptu fashion, just to get acquainted, before the holidays. I vote for a meet at Borders or some other establishment where they may serve liquid estimulants at budget prices. We can meet and talk and show our cameras to each other and then decide whether that particular piece of gear is really worth buying.

Ken Ford and I have met a few times for nice, long conversations about gear, life, photographic projects, experiences and the like. Very pleasant! And one day I had a long telephonic chat with Jeremy (now infatuated with a Konica S2), when we were thinking about getting together on a Saturday last Spring, at 10 AM, at Central Camera for a bit of a shoot. :)

I think by not going that day, I missed meeting Liam in person. In any event, I'm here, 65 miles West of the loop, but have a train station in Elburn, some 18 miles East from here, that will take me safely to downtown.

Weather? What weather?

Weather? What weather?

I agree with Francisco...let's get together and chat cameras and chug coffee (at least at first)...I will have to drive in, as trains don't run by me on weekends...unless I drive to another line...either way, I'm up for meeting in the Loop.

Cheers,
AJ

Sorry to be off topic, but can anyone recommend a chicago area service location to have the vertical alignment of my M6 fixed. I know it is a simple procedure, but I do not want to pay for the special tool. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Central does have a good repair department - tho they farm out much of the work.

Both Calumet and Helix (main locations) also have good repair departments.

I've used them all for various cameras, but never sent a Leica to them, so I can't vouch for their ability there.

Sounds like fun. I'm in the Milwaukee area, but get north of Chicago often, so I would love to meet. But before the holidays is out of the question for me. I'm trying to close on a house this week and then my fiancee and I have singing engagements through the rest of the month. But I REALLY want to get together with some of you guys in spring! Slug some espresso, talk some RF, and burn some film! :D

This coming Saturday... at what time? If It's in the afternoon, I may go. It's just that in the morning, as my wife just reminded me, we're going birding.

What if we meet on Saturday, Dec 22nd? I know it's very close to the Holidays but... think of the nice time we'll spend! :)

I'll bring my gear (minus the M3)! We'll be able to identify each other by looking at the stuff hanging off our necks! :)

I think my Saturday may be spoken for - both this and the next.

But who knows.

Certainly I'll have a camera with me, but I may also have a shopping fiancee.

c'est possible - if we end up as far down as the Borders. I know Paper Source is one stop. But I don't know if thats as far downtown as we'll get.

So update what people are thinking time-wise, and I'll see what I can do.

I am probably going to Central Camera this coming Saturday, Dec. 22. I think they have a photography fair day... And even if they didn't, we can meet there and stroll to a coffee spot with our gear in tow.

Anyone for it? There may be skaters in Millenium Park. :)

Sorry, I just had to say I had to do a double-take; I read "Central Camera" as "Central America".

Millennium Park set me straight :)

I'll be on my way to Indianapolis, unfortunately. Not nearly as photogenic as Chicago.

Say happy holidays to Tim and Carly at Central for me.

Francisco,

I'm up for it...We can meet there or at the Border's...Let me know what time you plan on getting there.

Cheers,
AJ

PS: Any other folks are more than welcome to join us...:D

Hey, it's AJ and me so far. Howsabout some more? We're nice people.

BTW, I'll be in the Loop on December 29th as well... staying at some ritzy place on Michigan Avenue. IIRC, it's a hotel near the Tribune tower, by the bridge. My wife is attending the MLA Annual Convention and I'll just tag along. :)
