How about a gathering before the Chinese New Year Parade on Sunday February 10, 2008? The parade starts at 1:00 PM, on Wentworth from Cermak to 24th Street.
"Gung Hay Fat Choy!"

AJ, I may go on Sat 22, but I'll definitely be there on Sat 29th. Take a pick and we can meet at the Borders on State Street. If anything, I'll be coming in the train that arrives in Ogilvy, so I'll need a little time.

Anybody else willing to meet? Hey, it's Christmas! ;)

Here is a crazy photo op...

I just got a press release at work, there will be a demonstration in front of Macy's (Marshall Field's) on State St. Saturday, December 22 between 12:15 and 1:00 PM. It will be people wearing blindfolds and blood soaked fur coats (color film?). Brought to you by Mercy for Animals.

I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast. I don't live in Chicago, but 65 miles West from the loop. If the weather reports announce iffy weather on Saturday... I'll stay. Otherwise, I'm going. Who knows? The demonstration looks like a tempting photo op.

But I still would like to meet with AJ and others at the Borders coffeeshop. How's about 11 or thereabouts?

I'm going to have to see what the weather holds...This morning's forecast was for 50% rain Saturday, possibility of snow Saturday night. The 29th will work for me, also, since I will be on vacation...:D

Let's touch base Saturday morning...see if anyone is definitely going in.

Well... the weather conspired this time against us. Since it's not so good, the shopping we were doing tonight got postponed for tomorrow... and I won't be able to meet in the loop and come back on time.

Let's meet at Borders on Dec 29th! It'll be less hectic for some of us. Plus, I'll be staying in the loop! :)

Take care!

Great! I'll be there at, say 10:30 AM. This is the Borders near the Siskel and Ebert Film Center, kitty corner from the former Marshall Fields. Let's hope there's another demonstration that day! :)

I'll try for the 29th, but it looks a little doubtful.
On the other hand, I'll be downtown for sure on the 31st. My wife has to work that day, so I'll tag along and shoot while she works. I do this every year.
If anyone wants to meet me that day, let me know.
The Chinese New Year thing is fun, but it,s best to get there early or stay late. During the parade, the streets are real crowded, and the parade itself has more polititians and Scottish bands in it than Chinese stuff! But, going in and out of the stores is pretty neat. And...it's a good opportunity to stock up on almond cookies!

Public confirmation. I'll be at the Borders on State St, with a bag full of Leica gear, in the coffeeshop at 10:30 AM this Saturday, Dec 29th. I think AJ will join me there. Anyone else interested?

Right now, I gotta pack, as we'll be leaving for Chicago in the 1:25 train from Elburn, to stay there from Thursday to Sunday (professional conference that my wife will be attending). I hope to meet some of you in the Loop on Saturday! :)

I have to cancel

I have to cancel

Sorry gents, but I have to cancel...My father is in the hospital and will hopefully be released tomorrow.

I hope you all get out there and spend some quality time in the winter wonderland.

Cheers,
AJ

Thanks

Thanks for the concern, Liam...

Picked up Dad from the hospital and took him home today...Seems like everything will be alright. He's just happy to be home.

Glad Francisco and you were able to meet...Next time, I hope to be there, too.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Cheers,
AJ
