Hi,

I managed to catch a NIB 35mm F1.28(T1.4) prime recently. It was made in 1986 by Beijing Nr.608 factory. Very few of these super fast lenses were made. Now I have a set of 20/2, 35/1.28, 28/2, 50/T1.4 and a very rare F25-80 1:2.3 zoom for 35mm cine cameras in Arri standard mount. They could be used on a digital rangefinder with an APS size sensor.😀

Hello J-Paul,

I noted that your Great Wall SZ-1 is an earlier one with that small frame count window. It should have been made in the early 1970's. The first two digits are the years when the camera was made. It should also have "Made in China" in Chinese characters on the back. Very nice.🙂

Changchun Nr.2 Optical Research Institute cranked out some real fast cine primes and some interesting zoom lenses. Here are some of them:

JSD35-20 F1.2 11G/12E design, minimum focusing distance 0.2m.
JSD35-35 F1.15 7G/9E, minimum distance 0.4m.
JSD35-50 F1.15 7G/8E, 0.7m.
JSD35-85 F1.3 7G/8E, 1m.
JS35-30X 25-750, 9G/14E, 3.5-22, 3m.
And Beijing Nr.608 factory made an impressive 35SJ 2000 2000mm F10, 3G/3E, minimum focusing distance 40m, and weighs 35 kilogrames!

Sorry, I don't have them.🙁 I wish they could make those fast primes again for a Chinese digital rangefinder camera.😀 Those fast primes are quite compact lenses with more brass parts for quality.

This is an uncommon Chinese TV lens that looks similar to a Zeiss Tevidon TV zoom lens. And a set of special effect filters neatly packed in a case.

This one may not be what I thought as a TV lens, but a lens for air servey. It looks like a lens mounted on an airplane. It still looks like those Zeiss Tevidon distortion free lenses that was also used by NASA for the same purpose.

Chun Feng SX16K fast speed 16mm movie camera's view finder. This camera has no S/N, so that it could be a prototype.🙂 Even if it is a production camera, it is rare. A total of 60 some cameras have been made until now.

Here is a watch movement image shot with a 35mm F1.28 Chinese 35mm cine prime lens. The lens is mounted on Canon 300D, the file is resized and cropped.

It is a sharp lens.

Hi,

I did a simple test of the Medium Format 1000mm mirror lens again ,and compared it with my MTO 1000A 1100/10.5. I found out that the Hassylblad mount 1000mm lens is not a F8 lens,but a F6.3( or maybe a F5.6) fast lens.😀 ......Cheers,

I compared it with a 3M-6A 6.3/500 mirror,and finally decided that it is a 1000/6.7 lens. I took a test shot again and compared with the MTO 1000A. Here are what they perform on a target 50 meters away.

Hi,

Here is a test shot of the Hassylblad mount 311mm F5 lens. This is a 100% crop with some PS. The leaf is about 20 meters away. This 311mm F5 is another mysterious lens with no S/N. Someone also mentioned a 2000mm lens for Hassylblad 2000, but I never saw an image of the lens. These equipment were used for missle testing according to the guy.

These simple 120 SLR were made by Beijing Camera Factory as low cost cameras for amateur photographers. Its 90/3.5 normal lens is a 3g/4e Tesser type of national 2nd grade lens with a M39 mount. A rare 2x teleconverter was made, and a wideangle and telephoto lens were planned, but never made. A new shutter with more speeds was also planned, but not made.

Some adaptors were made for using the 90/3.5 lens on a 135 SLR.

This is a clever design, and the shutter could be very reliable. The shutter has a very limited speed range with a top speed of 1/200s only. Quality of the normal lens varys. However, I find that with a Soviet TK-2D 2x teleconverter, some good Russian telephoto lens such as the Jupiter -11 135/4 could be used. After all, cameras are just a dark box, the optics decides.😀 BTW, early Chinese photographic lens were devided into 4 grades, O grade, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, so the 90/3.5 leaves much to desire. A whole package of DF-2 cost less than RMB 100.

Here are some rare versions of the Great Wall SZ-1 spring wind rangefinder cameras. The one with Mao's words"serve the people" has become a collector's item. There is another rare version with a 红光 logo that means red light, that is even rarer than the one with "Beijing" logo.

Shanghai 58-1 and Leica IIIb side by side. Shanghai 58-1 is a quite rare Chinese Leica copy, but it is not impossible to find like the Dalai. The image is from collector "HAIOU XIANGJI".😛

3x microscope objective

3x microscope objective

Here is an image made with a Chinese 3x microscope objective as a macro lens. It was made by Yunguang Optical Instruments Factory. This factory has a very long histroy of some connection with Carl Zeiss long before 1949.

The 3x objective was combined with a Zeiss 2x microscope converter. Both lenses are very sharp.😀

Here is what the adaptor ring looks. I have tried Chinese, LOMO, Olympus, Zeiss, AO, Leitz, Nikon,etc 2.5-4X objectives. For this application, Chinese 3x, Zeiss 2.5x, Lomo 3.5x performed better.

Hi,

I never used this Great Wall 90/3.5, but I heard it is a dog. So I tried it with a very sharp CZJ MC Biometar on a DSLR, and took a shot on a book shelf at aobut 1.5 meter. Both are 100% crop of the center section with lens stopped down to F11. It is not that bad.😀 I have two of these, and both performed about the same. Even wide open, these 90/3.5 are quite good. The smaller image was shot with CZJ 80/2.8. I guess the front cell focusing affected the image quality when used on a Great Wall DF 120 SLR.😕

The full frame iamge is of CZJ 80/2.8.

Thanks Ian for the link. Those are beautiful pictures. This camera is amzing value for money at less than RMB 100 when new for a MF SLR. I am a bit surprised at the sharpness of its lens. The better version has a fresnel screen that is much brighter.
I have a Chinese 75/3.5 enlarging lens that cost RMB 142.80.
