Chinese Red Flag 20 and lenses

Zhang,

I have a Seagull DF-1 35mm SLR with the 50mm f2 lens. Do you know if Seagull ever made any other lenses for this camera? I've never seen any others for sale anywhere.

Yes, Seagull made zoom and prime lenses for its Seagull SLRs such as 24/2.8, 28/2.8, 35-70/3.5-4.5......etc, and other factories also made lenses in MD mount. But these are not often seen these days.

A Chinese friend posted images of catalogues of Beijing 608 factory made 35mm movie lenses on a Chinese forum. These are very interesting and hard to find information for these optics.:) I borrowed them FYI.

Hi Christopher Crawford,

I am sorry for a very late reply. I just saw your message.:bang:
Yes, Seagull and other factories made prime and zoom lenses in MD mount for this and other MD mount cameras. Some of them are not so hard to find locally, but perhaps they are not often seen on the fleabay.

Here is a link of listing of a Chinese used equipment site FYI:

Kind Regards,

Zhang

Saw an interesting lens from the site at above link. A rare Red Flag lens.:)

According to the instruction paper, it has a resolution of 400 lp/mm at the center area.:D

Size comparison of Shanghai Nr.3 Camera Factory made 55/F1.8 lithographic(?) lens and a Russian Jupiter-3. The 55/F1.8 was made in 1979 accroding to the first two digits of its s/n.:bang::D

This is a rare lens. I never saw it before, and no information can be found on the web.:bang: It looks like one of those Nikon ultra micro lenses in design and it only stops down to F8.

Allegedly they had more than one Red Flag for sale there only two weeks ago, a friend of mine reported seeing more than one at that shop!

I wonder what it would go for, price-wise...

I have no idea of their recent prices. They were always too high for me since about 20 years ago for some 30,000 yuan RMB IIRC.

hi zk,

i only took the pic. i have no more space in my photo cabinet, and if i was about to shell out the money asked for a hongqi, i'd prefer to put it into something different.

:)

by the way, sorry for the late response.

cheers,
sebastian

johan,

in the meantime i wonder whether that friend of yours is a friend of mine, too.

anyway, if you happen to come to shanghai, be certain to drop me a line!

cheers,

A recently found very rare SLR Tianchi (heavenly pond). It is said only 40 some such cameras were made, and in many versions. The camera is not mine.:bang:

An earlier version has a 56/F1.9 lens, and some other details. It is said it is a copy of Contax SLR of GDR.

One of the earliest Seagull 4 TLR, still in a Shanghai IV's leather case. It has a s/n of 4-6376370 while one of my Shanghai IIIIs has a close s/n of 6368770.
