Yes the Chinese new year is still celebrated here. Though it's still a few weeks away, people are now preparing to welcome the arrival of the year of the 'fire pig'

About movie lenses- would you know what the focal registers (working distances) of the Krasnogorsk 16mm cameras?

I had a Krasnogorsk 16mm movie camera once, but later sold it. IIRC. it has a M42 mount so that I assume it has the same registration as those Zenits. The zoom lens that comes with the camera has a rear element that was much closer to the frame window when it is mounted on the camera. But many M42 lenses could be used for this camera.

Here are images of a black Seagull 203-1 and a Taihu 203 folder. Both are very uncommon variations of Seagull 203 model cameras.

Now here is something that maybe interesting to military equipment fans or astronomers. This is a lens that was removed from an obsolete Chinese missile tracking system. This is a high power telescope with sharp image quality. It has no marks or any information about who made it, the fucal length, S/N, etc. It also has the military equipment build quality, and it is extremely heavy.:bang:

Here is an image of a new Chinese missile tracking device. I think the main lens is very impressive. My lens was removed from such an equipment of older design, and looks much smaller than the main lens in the image. I think they can sell such lenses to astronomers fans.

May be in twenty years from now it would be a military surplus then someone can get it as a new superb tele at a bargain price.

Thanks for posting this pictures. I learnt a lot about the Chinese optical and photographic industry, something that was unknown for many of us, photographers.

I jut got one question.
Has anybody seen or heard about a Red Flag 20 with no viewfinder.
Like a DFAB or a Leica MD, for use on microscopes or scientific use.

Seagull have something like a MD, read it online but no idea when and where.

Zhang should be able to fill you in for more...

I wouldn't be surpise it is SLR base instead of RF camera base...

I read you all, regularly, with a lot of pleasure...and in particular Master. Zhang and his marvels...
To answer Job, I think that the Red Flag 20, without sight is a legend. No one ever showed its photo and, having had the " confessions " of Mr X, about the Red Flag, I asked him the question. He assured me that it didn't exist...Mr X was, nevertheless very aware...
A small question for Zhang: Do you know why on the Shanghai 58, the hold synchro flash is it so strange? First of all the shape, then it comes out of grooves...On my 58 IIc, for example
I see that the conversation of the spins, often overflow on the Russian cameras and the special and rare cameras. It is very interesting and Master Zhang enlivens that spins a marvelous way.

I have been wondering who is that rich Arsenall of Germany? He has so many rare items!:bang: He should be a famous collector of cameras. But it is still a surprise he actually sold something for those VERY high prices.

Happy New year to you! The flash socket on your Shanghai 58-2C is very strange with those grooves. None of my 7 58-2 has that grooves. But they all have that shape. I think these were individually machined. I don't quite understand the "spins"? Do you mean those strap lugs that I added to Zorki 1s and Zorki 4 Ks?

Here are some images of Chinese process and LF lenses. I found them on a Chinese site. I think the 1000mm F9 lens is interesting(black one). And a Chinese aerial camera mounted on a J-6 fighter plane( improved version of a Soviet Mig 19).

Now, a famous Kiev 88 MF slr is mounted on this huge missile tracking lens with an adaptor. Look how small the Kiev 88 is compared to the lens. The black lens in front it is a MTO 1100 F10.5 mirror lens, also looks very tiny.

I saw a similar lens currently offered on the *bay that covers at least 6x7CM format, and weighs ONLY 165 pounds. It is a nice 1300mm F4 optic.

BTW, those who collect red cameras is called "red carpet" collectors in China, and the title is only given to those who at least have some Red Army or PLA items.:bang:

I heard that Zeiss custom made a 1700mm F4 lens for a rich Arab. I guess a tripod should also be made for it? That will be a suitable one for this? Or I may need an even stronger one.

Here is an image of a guy's Mudan (peony)TLR collection. I am surprised that there are so many versions of Mudan alone. I think there are a few dozens Chinese TLR brands.

A mint example of this camera surfaced recently. Maybe only a few hundred cameras were made. It is a high quality 16mm cine camea in C mount. The camera is not mine. I post these clear image FYI.

I think those Chinese logos alone make these tlrs unique collectable items, plus these are very good cameras for B/W images for their big frame. Mudan also has single format cameras like those Seagull 4A, and with Tesser type taking lens and a rare TLR with a buit-in meter. 牡丹alone has enough variations for a collector.

Those accessary lenses for Pearl River S-201 are also being collected. These are less often seen than cameras. There are 28/2.8,35/2.3,135/2.8 and a zoom 80-200/4.5 lenses made for S-201. These are solid pieces of glass and metal. Even the hand grip are made of metal.
