Chipped Vulcanite covering. How much do they bother you??

Had an old M4 that pretty much was "naked."

At the NYC Meet-Ups some people thought it obscene, while others like me thought it sexy. LOL. Of course if you know me I have this habit of annoying people. LOL.

If I remember right what made this a cool M4 was not the nudity, but that it had the original "L" seal when I bought it used from Adorama. It was a lucky find, and on top of that it was a clean camera otherwise that I bought for "little" money.

I eventually sent this gem to Sherry to have overhauled, and even then the combined cost still made this a fresh camera, overhauled, and procured at a crazy low price. Sherry documented that it came to her with the original "L" seal.

I ended up passing this deal onto a friend, where I made no money. Andre bought new covering and "dressed" the camera.

Did you only use your "naked camera to make "bedroom" photos? Seems appropriate. 🙂🙂🙂
 
I have a 90mm Elmarit that used to have a vulcanite cover around the base. It's half gone, now, which makes me not want to use it, and yet I can't find a replacement on Cameraleather.com or Aki-Asahi. I'd like to come up with some suitable material. It wouldn't take much. Any ideas?
