Choosing portfolio in A3 or bigger

Hello,

already for some time I am looking for a nice presentation portfolio in at least A3 (or 30x40cm) or even bigger (40x50cm would be great for my prints from 4x5").

The only website I found up to now is the www.monochrom.com where they do offer a large selection of portfolios.

My problem is - I have never seen these kind of products live and have hard time to choose - the use different materials (sleeves), binding, etc. The price is also a factor and at the size of about A3 it ranges from 30 to more than 100 euro.

So - I would like to ask what others use - how are you happy eith your portfolio(s) (not the content 😉 ) and WHERE did you buy it ...

My experience is also somehow limited but for me the best option was to mount the photographs on art cardboard and have someone bind them for me. You have complete control over the way you mount and the type of cardboard you use and here (Latin America) it is not only cheaper but also almost the only option.

My experience is that anyway, as long as quality of presentation is decent nobody really looks at it and they care just of the pictures (as it should be!).

If you shot 4x5" print big!

You can buy a simple classic Prat portfolio or get more exotic...

I have some of the fancy ones but most often I use a $50 fake leather Itoya as the pages are excellent -- durable and clear -- and I just toss them when they get too worn. A3 - 11x14 is about as large as I would want a book, the larger ones are too heavy and fragile - mounted prints in a clamshell box work better large.
