cl or m5...

For which lens(es), Joe ?

Actually the least expensive Leica is usually the M2. So that's what I would pick if using a 35mm or 50mm lens. The CL if you want to go with 40mm; or a Bessa R3* or Rollei RF.

Remember your Canon P times :) No in camera meter required.

lots of affordable m2s and m3s around...and i do remember the canon ps...
but meters and af have made me lazy and if i were ever to get another leica i'd want a meter in it.

In this regard I'm a 70s guy--M5 + CL. Nothing to add to the discussion re weight reliability convenience. I like the metering and operation logic. Nice to have (nautical metaphor) a corvette alongside the heavy cruiser.

But if I had to compromise to keep one to do the job of both, I'd sell both and ask Jonmanjiro to sell me back the ZI I had for several months until he missed it. Light, great VF, long base, far newer internals than my 70s Leicas.

I've had both. I found the M5 too big and heavy for my taste. I don't have it anymore, and I have 2 CL's. They're good little cameras.
