So the white plastic film gripper thingy on the take up spool of my new to me Leica CL completely broke off. There was only 1/2 of it there when I got it and it was glued on - temporarily.
Anyway, has anyone come up with a home brew fix for this besides tape, or do I need to send it away?

Just thinking out loud. Well, not out loud, but thoughts coming out of fingertips...
Can you get something to wrap around the spool that will hold the film tip in- kind of like the metal "film clamp" like on an M3 take-up spool? A piece of metal to wrap around the remaining spool tightly enough to pin the film leader down? My CL is loaded at the moment. Can't look at it, but I do remember what it looks like.

Frank, I'm sorry to hear it. I've worried that mine might snap but I've been lucky so far. I don't know what fixes are available, though. It looks like it takes a fair amount of disassembly just to get to the point where you'd be able to fit something over the take-up spindle.

I know I've replaced one before, but I can't remember doing it- maybe there is something to the aluminium pans and altzheimers connection.
I'll stare at one tomorrow and see if a pull from a Hi-matic will sub or not.
Leica may still have the part on hand, worth an email.
