OK - since 2002 I've had the following done by CRR:
IIIa CLA
IIf CLA*
Summar CLA
Elmar red scale CLA and rear doublet split and recemented
Summicron collapsible CLA
M3 CLA
Small adjustment to a Summaron 35/3.5, which Peter said didn't need cleaning when he saw it as the "dust" was probably pinholes in the coating.
*this had to go back 8 years later to fix a lazy shutter, but that was almost certainly my fault for leaving the camera unused for 5 years. Peter charged me a minimal sum for the new repair.
...and your opinion is one of those to which I'd attach more weight. Even then, I'd probably PM you to get your 'phone number for a chat before sending a camera out for repair.
Cheers,
R.

Does anyone know what Sherry's waiting / turnaround time is now?
In March, she told me 4 weeks for cameras and 3 weeks for lenses however she did my M2 and 50mm/2.0 in about 3 weeks. I shipped out of Japan so I had to add shipping time back and forth (and the time it takes to send a money order as she still do not accept credit card). From the day I sent it to the day I recieved it was 6 weeks.

Another vote for Malcolm Taylor. I have a IIIf that he did a full overhaul on and it is a dream to use, everything is so accurate and smooth.

ditto. iiif which I bought from eBay. It needed new shutter curtains + CLA. Took slightly under than a month. I am very pleased with the camera. MT was great to deal with.

I'll add yet another vote for Malcolm Taylor. I've sent things to him three times.
On two occasions, he had the lenses back to me within about a week.
When I sent my M3 to him, it did take him nearly a month to send it back to me. In fairness, he did tell me it would take some time as the camera needed quite a bit of work--including a new shutter curtain--and at the time he was working on restoring several cameras that had to go off to Denmark or someplace like that.
The work? As everyone says, top notch. None better, most likely. So, yeah, I'm a fan.
Like someone mentioned, Malcolm is *real* old school. E-mail is not his thing. So if you want to get in touch, do it this way:

Don't hesitate to ring him. He's a very pleasant chap, and a conversation is always entertaining and quite often very informative. Malcolm's a super gent!

Hmm. Peter has just turned my M3 round in about ten days, and it needed a bit of repairing (the winder ratchet was broken) as well as a service.
So - use CRR, but phone first and negotiate when your job can be fitted in.
this is the issue with my M2 - what was the cost of repair if you don't mind me asking?

Extremely reluctant as I am to counter this :
Not always. I found him to be a rude, persistent interrupter. Very far from entertaining or gentlemanly unfortunately. He has the talent, of course, as testified by many, but I will not use him. And yes, I'd prefer not to post expensive gear to the Netherlands as an alternative to using a UK technician.

I've had very good experiences with Peter at CRR. He has done the following for me:
Leica 111c - complete rebuild and repaint
Minox B CLA
Minox LX CLA
Summitar CLA
Summar CLA
Nikkor 50mm F2 LTM CLA
With the exception of the 111c, which took a couple of months, turnaround was about 10-14 days for each job and the price seemed reasonable for the work done. Every time I've phoned him about a potential job, he's always told me to send it along straight away: perhaps I've just been lucky. Don't email him: you may never get a reply!
In contrast, one of the US based repairers often mentioned on RFF had supposedly CLA'd the 111c just before I received it. If so, it wasn't much of a job as most of the shutter speeds were way out and there was a lot of oil about.
