Hi everyone, my first post here. I have a CLE that was in mint condition until a couple of days ago when I took it in for a shutter speed check. I got it back with white spots all over the rangefinder mask (see picture). The spots weren't there when I took it in. The camera technician denies everything so I have no recourse there.

Has something like this happened to anyone here? What could the tech have done to damage it? He says he didn't open the top cover but I wonder if forced air, propellant, or jarring could have caused it.

Its not damaged per say but he or the journey to get it to and from was most likely the cause if it wasn't there before. Its just a bit of grit and dust that has been shaken out from other parts of the finder. You do get that if the top cover is removed and not given a clean air blow out properly but if he says the top cover has not been removed then is a case its gotten a bit of a shake upside down or something by him while working on it or by transport and dislodged the dust from its hiding place. It probably does need the top cover removed and a proper blow out and all will be good. Its not as serious as it may seem though.
