Clean/Lube Jupiter 8

I have seen several J-8's with Loctite on the threads. The last one I got in, took two rubber pads and BIG all-out twisting, turned out the thin shim has become tangled in the threads.

Oil off the aperture. Best way: break down the lens completely, all glass out. Take off the aperture ring to find two hidden set screws that holds in the name-ring.

I unscrewed the rear module & that gave me access to the rear of the blades so I then took a Q tip & gently cleaned the oil off the rear. Was also able to get most all the oil off the front blades. It's only a 10 dollar lens but the glass is clean so I'm please with the results for now. I need to buy a magnifier that I can wear on my head to work with small screws. I can't see close up anymore like I could even 5 years ago.
