cleaning a rolleicord III?

i just won a bid on the bay and found it needs a little cleaning on the screen. Do i just have to unscrew those around the focusing hood and take the whole thing out?

i also want to try cleaning the shutter a bit...they're all working but at slow speeds..they just dont go smoothly and a bit slow
but i cant see any screws around so i don't even have the slightest clue of how to take that thing apart

it would be great if anyone can tell me i should do 😉

To reach the shutter. You have to remove the leatherette on the front. You will then see the small screws that hold the cover over the shutter.

The focus hood assembly can be removed by taking out the four screws around the edge. The screen is held in with to special spring clips.
Be very careful with the fresnel screen. It will scratch VERY easily. Use light strokes of a soft brush or canned air.

would the shutter become better if i give it more excercise??

You don't have to buy new leatherette. Just be very careful and use a liitle nail polish remover on the tip of your tool( small slot type screwdriver) as you work.

I doubt the shutter will improve much. The dried out lubricates will stay dried out.

oh well as i'm typing the leatherette's peeling off 😛


what kind of lube do i need?
those always metioned synthetic grease 🙄 ????

No grease! Use a watch oil or other light oil, in very small amounts.

You will see four screws that are slightly larger than the others. Leave them alone.
The smaller screws hold the shutter cover on.

oh well, i guess i unscrew them all before i read this :bang:
i'm stuck. i just remove the front element, but i dont know how to get to the gear and stuff..
maybe i can post a picture and show you what i am talking about

where can i get those oil btw??
