Is it OK to wind and fire the shutter on a Leica IIIf with the lens collapsed?

Sould be. It's OK on an M.

It's OK -- when there's no film in the camera.

I've done it many times on my IIIc. No problem. Don't understand why the presence of film would make a difference though?
