Color film is back, says Ferrania

I can hardly believe it. Quick, pinch me. That would be so great! I've never used Ferrania film, but looking at web images, it seems to have its own look. Now, if only Fuji brought Reala and 160c back!

I'm not usually a naysayer here, but given the work they have to do to recreate the necessary infrastructure (from their blog: original buildings and machinery were dismantled; chemistry no longer available), this sounds like what the "Impossible Project" people had to do to restart Polaroid-type film production. I wouldn't be holding my breath that a quality film will be seen from these folks for quite a while.

It's nice to see someone who envisions a viable business making film. Since the significantly reduced film market is no longer large enough for the financial needs of multinational giants like Kodak and Fuji, I think the future of film is with smaller manufacturers who will re-tool to make money in the smaller market. Obviously, Ferrania sees a way forward to do this. Perhaps they are inspired by the new Ilford which is apparently doing well. The sooner a few smaller companies make film manufacturing a viable business, the better for those of us who will always use film.

what a useless website

I like it, it's simple and to the point. They have a link to the blog for news and updates. I guess it does not have any information on it as they don't have any to give.

They are probably in the early stages of development, so they can't give too many details about the forthcoming products yet. Maybe cut them a little slack.

Excellent news! Honestly, I am still pinching myself... This was a complete surprise. Maybe they got hold of some machinery from Efke. They claim to "(...) have the equipment to finish film in almost all photographic and motion picture formats: 110, 120, 126, 127, 135, 220, Super 8, Double 8, 16mm, 35mm and 70mm but at first we will put on line only the ones that are requested by the market". So, 127 hmm?...

On the other hand, and despite what nostalgic Italians might tell you, veteran photogs disliked the colours of the older Ferrania films (my dad being one of such photogs...). A friend of mine, however, had good results with their latest stuff (can't remember which film).

The list of possible formats is encouraging. Some orphens there, 127 and 110, wish someone still spooled 620 that was priced like 120.

In my opinion and with my experience, i would never buy!
I would NOT use it if it was free. Yup! Even free.
All my Ferrania stuff faded away, even the color neg stuff!
Lousy colors, grainy. Some was re=spooled out of date 3M.
Support Ilford. At least a genuine interest in more sales.
Ferrania, "Hang 'Em High"
Somewhere in my files are blank slide frames..😡
