Color film is back, says Ferrania

What's cool is that they plan to produce also a slide film. With Fuji pulling out bit by bit, this might be all there is in a few years.

Having tried a few expired rolls I thought Solaris had a particular palette, not in a bad way. The photo above is a good example. With scanning as an option, the fear of colour shifting and archivability is somewhat allayed. (In the sense you can make a file of the negative.)

Good luck to them, here's hoping they 'll do well.

If they cough up new emulsions I'm totally willing to try their stuff.

When did you try it last? Arguably they haven't been anything better than a mid-rank consumer film factory, a tier below the big three, but their truly horrible days date back to pre C41/E6 times and the first few years of their E6/C41 entry - in recent years about the only bad thing that could be said about them was that they had not joined the excessive colour race between Fuji and Kodak and were one generation behind in grain.

I shot one box if Impossible, and will never waste my money on that again...

Out of curiosity, if you want accurate colors, and fade resistance, what could possibly draw you to shoot instant film to begin with?

Impossible film is fun to mess around with. Not as "good" as the old Polaroid film, but at least it's available.

I know that waiting is easier when you don't know you are, well, actually waiting and I'm really sorry if this post will make this waiting harder for some...

But, 2014 is here. Anyone have any news about Ferrania films?

I've been wondering too. From their website you can tell nothing and they may not be able to secure funds to start the project. It would be sad to see this die.

All I have been left with is the idea of some people trying to grasp who, or how many would be interested in film so that they start something.
I hope I am all wrong and we get to see some film from them.

I agree wholeheartedly with Shadowfox. If Ferrania is able to market to enthusiasts in the way that Impossible and Lomography have, it will help them immensely. If they are able to show that they care and are responsive like Ilford is and does, then they will have customers for as long as they make film.

I hope ferrania makes the C-41 negative without the orange mask. That would simplify the scanning considerably.

Agfa Avicolor x-100 and x400 70mm and larger have no mask, most ideal for scanning and b+w. cut it down to 220 or 120 lenght and add paper. or shoot 70mm and cut down afterwards. do you use hasselblad?
