Hi, I just received an ltm color skopar from GeneW (thanks Gene, it's very nice). I wondered if any could tell me if a filter mounted on the "hood" will cause any vignetting and what size thread is on the hood?

Dave...

Hey Dave,

I asked the same question a while back as the CV 35/2.5 I bought had a 'Summarit' UV filter attached to the front of the hood. Similar to my first suspicions people thought that it might introduce flare since the filter was so far away from the front element. I tried it out & had no troubles on a bright sunny day, but am looking for a good 39mm UV just incase. From what I have read the Summarit takes 41mm filters, so (if you can find one) they will fit the normal round hood.

Cheers!

Peter

Like iñaki said, the hood unscrews & you can mount a 39mm filter between the lens & hood. My hood screws on pretty tight, but you should be able to get it off without causing any damage. I will check the diameter of my 'Summarit' filter tonight. I'm just going off what is engraved on it & what I could find in a search here about the Summarit.

The trick, picked up from CameraQuest, is to unscrew the hood with the lens cap on.

I don't know why this works, but it does. With the cap off, great force required; with the cap on, no problem.

Hello Peter, nice camera, which is the finder?(I need one for my zorki 3M).

Thanks! It is an Acall finder... I was lucky because it came with my Super-Acall 135/3.5 ... It isn't a brighline, but is much better made than the FSU 35mm finder I have & has parallax correction, so I feel more comfortable with my close-up framing.

Regards,

Peter
