I liked it alot on my old m6. Very contrasty, nice and sharp and very good bokeh. The lens itself was very small and exceptionally well made. Only thing I didn't like was the aperture ring tabs.

Worth the money for sure though.

I'll give it a yay... but it does depend. For what are you thinking of using it? I've found it a good foil to the 50 Elmar-M in that it's very well corrected, sharp and contrasty. I like it.

I am not against the Optics of the lens. But IMO, the shape of the lens is quite ugly.

IMO, you should get a Color Skopar Classic (with adapter). It's cheaper than the pancake version, just as good (obviously, since they have the same optical formula), smaller (+ has a teeny-tiny hood), easier to handle with its focusing tab...
Buy one new while they're still available.

Vented hood for 35 Color Skopar

I have the 35 Color Skopar Classic. I found a vented hood on the bay that works nicely on the lens. (See attach.) Looks cool too! Only drawback is, with this hood the camera doesn't fit as well in a coat pocket. Oh well, the advantages of the hood far outweigh that.

I'm with Marc-A - the Skopar Classic is an awesome little thing for all the reasons Marc outlined. And can be bought used for very good money these days.

The hood I bought was an 'off the wall' brand. It has a plastic label on it that says: "for LEICA 1:2.0/50, 1:2.8/50, 1:2.8/3.5, 1:3.5/3.5". I think I just did a search for "<enter filter size in mm here> vented hood". Oh, I forgot to mention, this one also has threads on the inside of the front edge so that you can screw in filters. Pretty cool, I think.

thanks for sharing. There are some great pictures in there. Hong Kong is the most photogenic place I've ever travelled to. I want to go back just to take more pictures (and for the Dim Sum).

There is also the first edition pancake without the tab which has a tiny hood. No longer in production but can be picked up on eBay. My very first RF lens and I'm not selling it. Below is a pic of the lens and a shot from it:

Very contrasty, you will never need a color filter with it. I believe the current pancake lens has the same optics.

I for one find the PII easier to handle. Nice hood, etc. Plus its smaller,
and you avoid the LTM adapter.

It does not exist in chrome.
