The gist is, can I run ColorPerfect with any version of Photoshop Elements?

Now let me quantify the term "any" by way of anecdote:

I'm currently using a Mac, running Snow Leopard (10.6.8), and I also have a copy of Photoshop Elements 6 (v6.0)--I think it came with some scanning software. Fairly bare bones and I don't use it that often.

Anyway, I tried ColorPerfect with it, and it ain't having it. Didn't work.

So I demoed the latest version of Photoshop (whatever it is, not sure, but it's awesome, even though I have no idea what I'm doing most of time), and boom ColorPerfect demo works fine.

*As an aside--did it ever work, I've never been able to get color like that out of negative scans. I'm officially a believer. Plus, after I got Vuescan set for linear scans, it actually takes less time.*

Anyway--so I think that there has to be a cheaper way to do this. Right?

I know I can rent/lease Photoshop now, but still, that adds up.

Surely that's not the best option.

So, I emailed the ColorPerfect developer and asked if it worked with any version of Elements (post 6--not sure, off hand, what the current version is), and he said that they didn't guarantee it would work with Elements.

However, he was a little equivocal, which made me think maybe it does work with some versions of Elements, but they just don't want to troubleshoot that if something glitches up.

So, do any of you guys have any helpful info?

Also, if you have relevant cost-cutting tips, I'd love to hear them (grad school is killing my wallet).

Thanks in advance.

Their site says it works with PE. But it certainly does not seem to work with the older bundleware versions (4 and 6) I have around - if the makers can't even make promises regarding the current version, I would not count on it.

However, ColorPerfect runs perfectly well with PhotoLine - which is about as affordable as PE special offers, and a far more capable software, especially for purposes like ColorPerfect where you don't want any consumer-friendly automations to kick in and modify your raw scan...

Cool. Great info. I'm not familiar with PhotoLine, but will check it out.

I assume it is Mac OSX compatible? --I'll check this out.

I tried ColorPerfect with PE (I think 10 or 11, I don't know, but it was a fairly recent version) and it did work.
