I'm looking to meet up with any local photographers to grab some good food and take some good shots. I don't know the area well at all, my first time back in the states in years. Oh the culture shock.

Cool. I don't think we've scheduled our
monthly meet-up yet so I propose we have it either the 21st or 22nd. We always try to accomodate for people coming from
out of town so let us know which day you prefer.

As for going out shooting, I can give you a bunch of tips for good un-touristy type spots to go shooting.

Mister E. I'm in Baltimore, 45 minutes from DC. I'll keep an eye on this thread, maybe we could meet up in the weekend.

I'll be in NYC right at that time as well.

Are you bringing those sequential # black paint M4 bodies to dangle in front of folks such as myself with black paint GAS? Dear God, if I only didn't need my M9...

Anyone in the NYC group shoot me a PM or email and I'll get you my cell phone #.

Ha, I wish. They've sold. I'll have my M9, Xpan and I'm not sure what else. Probably my Ikon.

I wish I had time to pass through Vancouver!

I will be in the DC area the lion's share of the time. I will be working the 24-26th but free in the evenings. I'd love to meet up, eat, drink and shoot.

Can someone recommend a place for me to stay in NYC? Decent but not extravagant.

I'm sure you guys would rather shoot than have a beer and gear meet-up. I'm available Sunday the 22d, but lately its been raining every day in New York.

I can offer you a tour of the bowels of NYC that's kinda off the beaten track. Mostly industrial, abandoned where there's no people or houses with midtown Madhattan in the background. We're talking heavy industry, oil refineries, sewage treatment plants, garbage recycling depots, and the most polluted waterway in the U.S., Newtown Creek, where NYC started dumping raw sewage as early as 1853. Also site of an oil spill estimated to be three times the size of the Exxon Valdez, but only last year in 2010 was it labled a superfund site by the Federal government. LOL.

On a subway map its an empty space that comprises Long Island City, Hunters Point, Blissville, and Masbeth.

I'm about 20 minutes north of DC, but get into the city proper on occasion - usually not the parts where you want to stroll around with a camera in the evening tho! anything in particular you'd like to see? as well, anyplace you'd like to get to, but need transport?
